Abstract
The present study was aimed to know the Sciomyzidae species in Benin. The entomological analysis
carried out in the south and the center of Benin in bilharzia homes allowed to inventory during the surveys between August 2014 and July 2015. Eight species were identified out of a total of 3656 specimens distributed in 3 genera (Sepedon, Sepedoninus and Sepedonella) and three subgenera (Parasepedon, Mesosepedon and Sepedomyia). Including the present contribution , there were 11 species of Sciomyzidae reported from Benin with three new species for Benin: Sepedon (Parasepedon) straeleni Verbeke, 1950; Sepedon (Sepedomyia) nasuta Verbeke, 1950 and Sepedoninus curvisetis Verbeke, 1950. These species have wide distribution throughout the contry.
