ResumeIn order to alleviate poverty in developing countries, several projects were de- veloped and used to collect important financing on behalf of poor rural population. However, it is necessary to carry out a global evaluation of their real contributions improvement of living standard of beneficiary population according to their own perception. This survey which was done in four villages in rural area of bar land of Abomey plateau was devoted to the determination of projects’ typology, the ap- proaches used and the beneficiaries’ perceptions on the projects’ contribution in their socio-economic growth. It results a poor impact on rural beneficiaries, a big gap in the interventions and a pessimistic perception of beneficiaries according to the projects’ contribution in their socio-economic progress. There is also a focusing on the interventions in the domains of promotion of income generating activities, education and accessorily of health, water as well as children and women right. Nevertheless, we noticed the use of “top-down approaches, mainly for projects of education and health and the use of participative approaches for water and income generating activities. But that participation is still embryonic because it consists just in setting up and collaborating with local committees of beneficiaries with all its after-effects. Moreover it was noticed some positive impacts of the projects’ contri- butions in improving some beneficiaries’ well-being even if there are few and not sustainable. So it is necessary to rethink the interventions of projects to alleviate poverty.
