Abstract
The objective of our study was to determine the place of women in sport at INEPS. To achieve this, we carried out a crosssectional study, with a quantitative approach on a sample of 59 STAPS students chosen from the sports associations of this
institute, at least two years old. Observation, documentary research and the questionnaire were the main investigation tools.
Data processing and analysis were facilitated by models: rational choice by Raymond Bourdon (2004); social relations of sex
by Danièle Kergoat (2009), and social representations by Abric (1989).
The interpretations of the results tell us that the girls choose their AS taking account of their previous practices. Not many of
them practice: football, basketball, archery, volleyball and the reasons are sociomorphological, economic and cultural. Girls
who are victims of negative social representations because of their practice of sport feel themselves inferior to men.
