ResumeIn the aim of highlighting the ongoing erosion processes in the Yewa River basin, a study based on soil water erosion modelling is proposed in this paper. The USPED model was chosen to quantify and spatialize erosion and deposition processes at the watershed scale. The USPED model takes into account five determining factors, namely: precipitation aggressiveness, soil erodibility, slope inclination and length, vegetation cover and various means of controlling soil erosion. The results show that 7.51% (66.32 km2) of the basin area shows a low to moderate sensitivity to erosion for 0.34% of severe sensitivity (3.02 km2). As for deposition, 8.36% (73.80 km2) of the basin area reveals low to moderate deposition for 0.68% (6 km2) of high and very high deposition with a positive balance of about 1700.98 t/ha/yr. This study could be the starting point for the implementation of a coordinated management of actions to combat soil erosion and help to understand the current dynamics of the watershed.
