Abstract

The Gbèglé groups are farmer associations specialized in saving and crediting agricultural labor in the municipalities of Tori-Bossito and Kpomassè in South-West Benin. This study examines the perception of local actors of the effect of Gbèglé credits on improving the factors of agricultural production and agricultural income of beneficiary households. It is based fundamentally on a qualitative survey of different actor of this local service supplied. The results reveal a well positive correlation between recourse to agricultural labor credits and the improving the factors of agricultural production and agricultural income of beneficiary households. This study, asks strongly the capacities of locals institutions, as local structured practices, to contribute to the amelioration of living condition of populations. It is, firstly an empirical contribution to the evaluation of the potential of the endogenous initiatives of the rural populations to face specific needs and secondly allows to make deep reflections on the taking into account of the local initiatives in the elaboration of the policies of rural development, namely on the financing of agriculture.
